Dude, the open house was sooo goood. I actually talked to the one teacher I had never talked tobefore, and even though he's a zooarchealogist, we bonded over linguistics. He teaches one of the intro classes, and he has to teach a bit about linguistics. He has the best idea evah for it. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. ;) I will mention that it may involve smells, but he's not sure how to pull off that part just yet

One woman complimented me on being so enthusiastic. Another asked me what classes I was taking, and as I was telling her the long, convoluted story about my love affair with linguistics, the acting head of the department stopped me, and told me exactly what I should be doing to shape my degree.

GLEE!!! I honestly could not keep the smile off my face. The man put his finger on the pulse of what I've been working towards for 3 years now.

An observation from the open house: everyone wants to be a forensic anthropologist. It was so funny, because people would come up and then Chris would be all "If all of the students who I trained last year went into forensics, Manitoba wouldn't need any new people trained for 100 years." A lot of people want to take it; we have a (comparitively) small crime rate. Ewpz. So he's telling people to get training, and to move to the States where there's a higher crime rate. And he's very serious about this.

I'm just on a high right now. Tonight was so good.

Glee!
