YOU GUYS. You guys, you guys. I need some serious encouragement/ass kicking. I have very little written for my rough draft. I just... I don't even know, you guys. And I still have 60 pages to read for tomorrow. I mean, that's not a big deal, but you guys. I know I go through this with pretty much everything I ever write, but I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING.

And the Manitoba/Alberta game is tonight. I'm taping it, but you guys. I'm so tempted to just say "Fuck it" and watch curling and knit on my sock, instead of sitting up here, writing something that I'm not sure about what I actually need to be writing. GAH.

*FLAIL*

In procrastinatory news, the Spring issue of Knitty is up, and I love it and want to make almost everything in it. When had that ever happened before, I ask you? I really want to make Yosemite, except with either full length or longish sleeves. I'm intrigued by the construction on the American in China socks and I love handwarmers (do I ever!) and so will probably make Spirogyra at some point. I also really like the toddler clothes, and will probably make Juju for at least one kidlet.

OMG, why won't this damn thing write itself.

Do your work! Procrastination is not good! It adds to your stress. You will do a good job, and be more relaxed if you do it.

I know it sucks to do stuff you aren't in the mood to do though. I'm struggling through the same sort of stuff with work. :(

I'm trying, I'm trying. Earlier I was thinking "I should have worked on this on Sunday," but you know what? I REGRET NOTHING.

It's partly that I don't really know what he wants for this- from the course outline he basically wants the final paper. That is due in about a month. IDEK, JEN.

I'm thinking of just writing up what I can, going into the library tomorrow to find some back up sources (hello, needing 1907-20 Manitoba history context! Woo, sources!) and getting a good rough draft done by Thursday/Friday, instead of the piece of crap that would be handed in tomorrow. Ugh.

because, sadly, papers hardly ever write themselves. :(

1. Download this song. Singing muppets FTW?
2. Make a cup of tea. It helps to have something to sip while considering what to write next. (Or maybe that's just a procrastination technique of mine?)
3. OMG WRITE PAPERZZZ. Seriously, if it's a rough draft, you can always wait for feedback and change it for the final, right? Remember to repeat steps 1. and 2. as needed during this process.

New Knitty is glee, and thank you for pointing me at it. :D We should totally meet up sometime (next week maybe?) and oogle the American in China pattern. I'm just... gah, I want to knit socks so much, and those ones are nice (and toe up! I'm so all over the toe-up idea!). But I've never knit socks before, so I need someone to either talk me into it, or out of it.

1. I GOTTA FIND ME. Thank you.
2. This, sadly, is what I've been doing most all day. Procrastination, YAYZ.
3. Ugh. I think he actually wants something polished; tbqh I don't know what's up with him and the writing of things in this class. This is the first time he's asked for a rough draft of the final project (and grading it 20%, WTF) and also the first time he's actually given us an outline for how and what he wants in the paper. I mean, I'm glad he's finally saying exactly what he wants but because I'm doing something not exactly what the project originally called for,I don't know how to adapt. I AM A CREATURE OF HABIT, dammit.

I would love to get together and talk socks and stuff. Lemme know when works for you (me, pretty much not Wednesdays.)

Write the paper!!!! It's just a rough draft. Even if you're getting marked on it, the odds are pretty good the reason why your prof is making you do a rough draft is so you know what to fix/what he/she expects for the final version. Write the paper!!!!! Your curling tape and your knitting will be there when you're done. Write the paper!!!!

Omg, I love those spyrogyra handwarmers. So pretty!

(Write your paper! Is it done?!)

wish I was around to kick your butt!

Seriously, though, I'm the last person in the world who should be talking about procrastination. But you know.... the sitting there thinking about how writing will be unpleasant is actually way more unpleasant than the writing itself.
