So I just had a nightmare where I put off finishing university to go back to high school to redo some of my classes. Because high school was such a great experience the first time around?

(I know that doesn't sound like much of a nightmare, but I woke up gasping. Ugh.)

No, high school was alright (mostly because of Jen, Karen and Shannon. And a few others.) but still. What an odd topic for a nightmare.

That's ... a strange sort of thing to be even having a nightmare about. Because being a teenager is so much fun that we all miss it like mad, right?

I blame [livejournal.com profile] skoosiepants and all of the high school au's of hers that I've been reading. They actually make high school seem like it would be okay now.

Ugh. I mean, I kind of do wish I could redo parts of high school again- I'd make myself focus on actually learning things, instead of just trying to make it through the day. I would actually talk to the counsellors and other people that were trying to help me. I would have realized faster that some friends were toxic while others are saints who will still be my best friends ten years down the line (well, I kind of knew that then, but when you don't feel like you have many friends you hang on to the bad ones anyway.)

But still. You couldn't pay me all the money in the world to do it again.

I've had nightmares like that. They usually involve being back in high school in some state of undress and forgetting how to speak french. In my personal experience, it's the dreams that are the most ridiculous that are the scariest, just because they don't make any sense.

I have loads of dreams that take place in my old high school (or a place that is supposed to be my old high school, but is actually drastically different), but I'm usually not back in high school (either still in it or, more often, just there randomly). And I have lots of dreams that don't sound like nightmares when you describe them, but are really terrifying or just discomfiting when you're in them. Meh. That's dreams for you.
