According to Canada Post, I should get my yarn tomorrow. So, yaye! Also, a question: do any of my knitterly friends know of a sock pattern that is good for "problem" feet? I was thinking of making Jaywalkers for my mom, but my experiences with it so far show that it can be a bit narrower without much gives. I'm guessing something ribbed, and knowing my mom, no lace socks.

The problem with these would mostly be right at the point where you would usually start decreasing for the toe- mom had bunions that stick out a bit and make some shoes pretty painful. I don't want any textured stuff over it, obviosuly, and not loose so that it would be rubbing on it. Ribbing should be good- [livejournal.com profile] marydotmusic, that First Steps pattern you put out a while ago looks to be a good candidate.

(Also, the yarn is KnitPicks Memories in the Red Hat colourway and I'm thinking that the colour changes won't work well with any lace.)

I just rode my bike to the library and back. When I left I was going against traffic in the pre-rush hour, so I rode on the main routes. On the way back I stuck to the back roads because holy crap, Winnipeg isn't bike friendly.

I did pick up books at the library about plants and stuff in Riding Mountain, so that'll be good for my trip this weekend. Tonight we're going grocery shopping, and then we'll just have to get packed, and then we're off early Friday morning. Road trip, woo!

(Karen even bought a bear bell yesterday. So the bears will know where to find a nice, yummy meal of 4 young women. However, we will be armed with knitting needles- won't they be surprised. Or at least, the people who find out mangled corpses will be.)

(Note to self: St.Vital Library has the Timothy Dalton Jane Eyre on video.)

So very true. I hope you have fun out there. I am terribly jealous. Not that I didn't do any camping at all this summer, of course.

Oh yeah, and if you do happen to "accidentally" kill a bear with your knitting needles of doom, can I have a canine?
