I'm the most indeciseve person on the planet (no, I'm not- yes, I am...) I've changed my research topic from sea-going vessels to swear words.

You should see me trying to do something like grocery shop over here. Honestly, I just spent about 10 minutes in the grocery store trying to decide whether or not I REALLY needed to buy cheese!

But, anyways - there's nothing wrong with changing your topic, if you find out that you prefer another one. Better to find out now, and write on the topic you want to do than get into writing the essay and find that its going to be a nightmare to put together.

One of the papers I'm most proud of and learned the most from I did in just a couple of weeks after changing my topic from something I just couldn't connect with. (I think Silcox thought I was crazy when I told her I was changing my topic!) So, I'm glad you changed topics if you weren't happy.
