I'm currently in the process of knitting two shawls (the Lilac Leaf shawl and the ever-trusty Clapotis) both in fingering weight yarns, and while the patterns aren't complicated, the process is kind of slow. I've had to start some smaller, faster projects to keep my interest up; one is the Sunday Swing socks (and yeah, socks go kind of fast compared to shawls. Maybe it's just that there's obvious progression instead of just "yay! another inch done, four more feet to go!") and the other was the Autumn tea cozy.
My mom asked me today if I missed school at all. Only a little bit, I told her. I miss some things, but definitely not the stress I always put on myself. I need something challenging, but (and channelling Lisa Simpson here) a challenge I can do. I think that's part of it with the knitting, for me, and also why I'm looking at some other things like embroidery, quilting and canning and going "hmm..."
I need to come up with a way to make my "working on the inventory" time more obvious and productive than my "doing everything else" time. I have about two weeks to finish which should be enough time, but... I know how these things go. Also, I still haven't written up my stuff about the peat plant and I have a whole report to read up on for it. I really want this to kick ass. (BEST HERITAGE INVENTORY OF AN OLD PEAT PLANT, EVAR!!!) Also, this has to be done before I start looking for a job again, because I know if I don't, neither will happen because that's how my crazybrain rolls.
