(I also have some pictures up on my flickr account of other knitting projects and the hiking trip from Sunday. There are some lovely pictures of [livejournal.com profile] ananasananas up there as well.)

Work went well today- we were pretty busy, and I had to stay an extra half hour. Plus, good tips. I like good tips.

Walking through Osborne on my way here to the university, I got splashed by a car. Fucking cars not slowing down while going through puddles, especially with pedestrians RIGHTTHERE. Bah.

I do, however, have a Kinder Surprise egg, and plan on enjoying it and making the toy in the car on the way home. SO nyah, universe. (Wow, is that going to bite me in the ass later, or what.)

Tonight I've been working on a small (I mean, really small) cross stitch pattern that I plan on giving to [livejournal.com profile] rosie_riviter's daughter. Nothing too complicated (and kinda pink. Pre-packaged craft stuff isn't really gender neutral in their colour choices...) but it's been a while since I've done cross-stitch and it's taking me longer than expected.

I also have an embroidery project that I hope to get to soon. I was going to pick up a crewel project, but... a lot of the crewel kits didn't actually use crewel wool, just embroidery floss. So I chose a nice beginner's embroidery project, and have my eye on some other projects I'd like to work on if this goes well.

I feel kind of bad that I've been pressuring mom to take up a craft project, but there was dfinally something that she seemed interested in, a kind of punch/loop thing. It reminds me a bit of latch hook, which she actually used to do (she did a really great latch hook project of a wheat field at night. It's gorgeous, and 100x better than the smiley face/rainbow/unicorn wall hanging we saw in the store. Yeuch.) So I may end up getting her a small kit when we go on vacation together.

This is the other other project I'm working on right now, a yarn doll, from one of the Golden Hands books. I've got the arms, body and legs done. It calls for a ping pong ball for a face but I may just go for some polyfill covered with fabric and shaped to look like a face.

Hmm. I may be turning to crafting to hide from other things in my life that I am less than pleased with.
