I am Challenger Deep!
Which Extremity of the World Are You?
From the towering colossi at Rum and Monkey.

I absolutely love this piece of music. We played it in band one year, and I just fell in love with it then.

I have The battle of Mogadishu : first-hand accounts from the men of Task Force Ranger waiting for me at the library, but I'm going to wait a few more days until my next Sharpe book and the Hornblower DVDs come in as well. Oh crap, I have stuff overdue. Mom was going to take them back for me, but then the blizzards hit, and they're in the back of the car and we just forgot about them. I'll ask her to take them back today and pick up my book and give her money to pay the fines. Crap, crap, crap.

Forgot to mention my resolutions for the new year:
-at least 2 hours of physical activity a week. At least.
-get all of my degree planning worked out. This is ridiculous.
-get better at calling curling shots
-do more "fun" reading.
-listen to more music, from different styles.
-stay healthy. In fact, go down at least one clothing size.
-cut your hair, you hippie. ;)
-be able to cook for a large family dinner, even if it's just the Wild Rice Casserole.

There's something about the song Grace by Jeff Buckley that just pulls at me so hard.
There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well it's my time coming, i'm not afraid to die
My fading voice sings of love,
But she cries to the clicking of time
Of time

Wait in the fire...

And she weeps on my arm
Walking to the bright lights in sorrow
Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow
Oh my love
And the rain is falling and i believe
My time has come
It reminds me of the pain
I might leave
Leave behind

Wait in the fire...

And I feel them drown my name
So easy to know and forget with this kiss
I'm not afraid to go but it goes so slow

The acoustic version (that I put up above) just feels so intense and personal. I've heard different versions of it, and I think that one is my favourite.

[livejournal.com profile] rosie_riviter, [livejournal.com profile] zanzibar_mcbean and [livejournal.com profile] nyxnymph, I still have presents for all of you. How should I give them to you?

Mom bought me a LotR calendar for my bedroom. Yay!
