Well, Stoughton lost the final. I felt pretty bad after the first couple of ends when it was looking bad- Manitoba wasn't playing poorly, just not as perfect as Martin (who shot a personal 97%, holy hell.) So. Not bad for the first year with Kevin Park, I'd say.
I do, however, have two moments that infuriated me badly, both in the second and third ends. First it was the jackasses booing Kevin Park when he was in the hack- you may have noticed that I have a soft spot for him but this is just inexcusable behaviour towards any player.
Second, there was Ray Turnbull saying in the third end that other teams would be hoping that Stoughton would be able to beat Martin so they wouldn't have to play him. One, like Stoughton's been saying most of the week it's really fucking insulting to insinuate that there are two classes of teams in this year's Brier field (basically, Martin and Howard and then everybody else) and two... that makes no fucking sense. Instead of facing the supposedly unbeatable Martin team those other teams would be facing the guys who beat the supposedly unbeatable team. And that's supposed to be easier for them... how?
That said, I'm excited for the world championships coming up soon, and really looking forward to both the Olympic qualifying events and then the Olympics next year.

Also, note to them on a sports narrative level: PEOPLE LIKE CHEERING FOR THE UNDERDOG COMEBACK STORY, don't harsh both their vibe and the coverage of both teams by sucking up so much to the undefeated team.
