shouldn't apply to January 1st if you've spent the evening imbibing. I don't want to spend the rest of the year crashing on people's floors (thanks again for letting me, [ profile] chavvah) and sneaking out in the morning to go home only to find out once I've left the building and can't get back in that I don't have change for the bus.

So I went up to the Tim Horton's, but it didn't open for another 1/2 hour, so I waited in the bus shack since it was like, -38 with the windchill, and waited until it opened, then sat and drank my steeped tea (incidentally, Tim Horton's steeped tea is consistently one of the worst things to drink, and yet I keep drinking it, maybe because of that) and waited in the warmth for the bus (with the new, higher bus fare now in my pocket.)

Other than a sore back from sleeping on the floor, I'm feeling pretty good. I'll probably nap later though, since I haven't had much sleep. The new year and the new start will begin once I wake up again- this is just that transition between the two. But I'm feeling pretty good about where things are going to go from here.

Oh dear. Well, I'm glad you got home okay.

Mom kept asking "how did Monique get home? Is she all right? Is she safe????" and I felt like a shit friend for not going home with you. (... boom-chika-wawa)

I texted [Bad username or site: @] so that she would know I got on the bus. It's weird, we don't seem to do that here, but it's standard social practice in the UK. But yes, I got home had a full litre of water and some toast, and part from some dizziness, I'm doing pretty well.

I did make a general announcement when I got your text, but there were several other things going on at the time.

OMG, I can't believe that you didn't either make some tea in my kitchen or wake me up and demand that I make you tea.

I would have totally made everyone tea and breakfast in the morning! I am generally a good hostess. However, not so much at 5 a.m. when I've gone to bed at 4.

I didn't want to wake you up, sorry. :(

I was pretty much awake for the day at that point, and wanted to go home.
