I just wrote three tweets in a row about my stash before I realized I should just make a damned lj post about it, and maybe get feedback and/or support.

I'm going to try knitting another mile before buying more yarn. I have put a bit of a dent into the stash by knitting the lacy linen cardigan, but not that much, so. I don't know how much I'll get done before a sale may(will probably) tempt me but I'm going to give it a go.

A;sp. having pulled out much of my yarn and looking at my Ravelry queue and thinking critically about what it is I want to knit and what I like to knit and what I like to wear myself vs. what I want to gift people, I've decided a few things for future yarn acquisition:

  • I like worsted weight sweaters/cardigans. I have yarn for one already, but I really shouldn't have enough yarn for more than two projects at once.

  • If I pick up some more Cascade 220 in some complimentary colours (just like, 2 skeins, I think) I can make a pretty awesome vest and use up quite a bit of my yarn.

  • I really don't wear shawls all that much- other than the one awesome one I have planned using all of the yarn [livejournal.com profile] coleman_genie gave me for Christmas, I don't see myself making other shawls for myself. Scarves, yes. I'd like to make them for other people, but wondering how close people have to be to be on the shawl list.

  • I have enough sock yarn for 15 pairs right now. I don't need any more.

  • When I do buy more sock yarn, it should be either a solid or a semi/heathered/kettle-dyed variation of colours. It could change, but at this moment I'm a little over variegated/handpainted yarns. I want good yarns for lace and cabledprojects, where the pattern doesn't get lost in the yarn (except, apparently, for KnitPicks Imagination yarn. The colour changes happen after about an inch or so, and it works well. IDK, my choices!).

  • Same goes for any more laceweight that I buy in the future.

I really should just toss all of the little bits of yarn I've been saving, but I keep worrying that I may need it for repairs (of course I still haven't darned the sock that got ripped the last time [livejournal.com profile] coleman_genie was in town visiting.) Or I could get started on one of those giant sock yarn blankets. Hrm.

(And this is what I think about instead of sleeping or other useful things.)
