Novillero's aim stays true on its latest album
...wait, what?
ETA: Breaking Tradition
Winnipeggers will finally get a chance to hear the new material when A Little Tradition is released Friday at the Pyramid Cabaret. Novillero will be joined by opening acts the Telepathic Butterflies and Crosstown Rivals (admission is $12).
It will also be the band's first show with bassist Rejean Ricard, the Telepathic Butterflies frontman who is filling in for Grant Johnson, who quit the band suddenly two weeks ago to "do his own thing," Slaughter says.

Winnipeg Sun: The last time we checked in with you guys was fall 2006, which was also the last time you updated your website, from the looks of it. What's been going on since then?
Jack Jonasson: Well, Grant (Johnson), our old bass player, he quit recently, like three weeks ago. He was the tour manager for his girlfriend's band, The Wailin' Jennys. And after they put out a new album, he ended up spending the last year and a half on the road with them ... Anyway, he left a few weeks ago. He's got other things going on. It's bad timing, but at the end of the day, we all feel like we -- and him -- should be focusing on the things we need to be focusing on. For him, that's the Jennys.
