So busy yesterday, wow.
I did chores all morning, and then in the afternoon,
coleman_genie came over for lunch, and then she played hooky and hung out for the rest of the afternoon. Then she left for dinner with the bf, and mom and I did our thing.
We were all hanging out at the table when my uncle Phillip phoned. Phillip is my dad's brother and I don't know why nothing twigged for me that something would be wrong, since the only reason anyone in my dad's family calls us anymore is to say that someone's died. I think Karen must have thought I was cracking because I went from okay to giggling to almost crying, trying to figure out after hearing mom repeat "heart attack", who had died. Honestly, I thought it would be my great-uncle Buddy (the man must be over 85, smokes, drinks and walks everywhere. The man is in some sense, the embodiment of life in the area- grew up in the bush in a home on a creek that's ben flooded over by the hydro dams. He worked (works? WHo knows if he's still doing it, I wouldn't be surprised) as a surveyor, going out into the woods with prospectors, hydro people, etc. and laying lines. He still did (does) it oldschool sometimes, but appreciated the advent of the GPS. A few years before Grandma died, he was out working in the winter, and while on a river, one leg went through the ice. He ended up tearing some ligaments and then walked a few miles back to base camp. Dude, that's hardcore.
But no. My cousin Colin (who, actually, I don't ever remember talking to, but I must have at some point) died of a heart attack. He was only a few years older than me. So, there's a viewing tomorrow that I'm going to, and then a funeral a few days later.
So, after comparing the screwed up dynamics of different families, mom put Karen and I to work. We put all of my CDs in cases (and wow. I'm really bad for not putting things back in cases) and tried to organize them. Later I need to decide what I want to get rid of.
We began again with the tea and knitting, and then
ananasananas came over. This is where the fun truly begins, as Shannon told us a story involving her notreally!boyfriend (they have an undersatanding...) and porn. And then I began singing "The Internet is for Porn" and wanting to show the SG1 video set to it (brilliant, btw) I came up to the computer to find it, and who should be nudging me on MSN but
_jibberish_, from Thailand. So, I yelled at the others, and voila. The four of us were hanfing out together for the first time in a month.
We chatted for at least an hour, and yeah. I miss Jen even more now. We all took turns talking, even if it did get confusing after a while. Many jokes were made (lolo), Paul Bettany's arse was discussed, as well as the possibility of bringing back some minkays.
Then we hung out some more, drank more tea, Shannon at around ,idnght finished her dinner and we kept knitting. Shannon helped me with my digital camera (pictures coming later) and then I finally kicked them out around 1:30, and then mom started organizing even more in the computer room, so I had to tell her what to keep and what to get rid of.
And then, to bed. This mornign we're going wool shopping, and then... to bed again, I think. IT'll be plus 30 this afternoon, not fit for man or beast. I'll be in my cave if anyone wants me.
