Fucking hell. Practise was fun. Well, working with my teacher, and then watching him and his bandmates practise was fun. And then drinks afterwards was fun. Had a nice talk with Flook, and that was fun.
Not looking forward to tomorrow's filing/ethics paperwork doubleheader, but looking forward to the movie that night. Yaye!
My muscles are sore. I need to practise
more.

greek_amazon1. What made you choose to study linguistics?I've always been fascinated by language, and how you can shape the perception of something by simply choosing a different word/representation. Also, going up through the immersion program I was fascinated by the imperfection of translation. So I've always been conscious that there's something happening at the level of language, and I wanted to find out what that is.
2. What is the absolute WORST book you've ever read?Self, by Yann Martel. I read a lot, and I've read some stinkers but this one made me so pissed off, and angry that I had even taken the time to get through it. Heavy handed, Martel seems to think a lot of himself, his "clecer" way of graphologically representing the two p.o.v's of a scene (columns, ooh, how
innovative) and the crapass way that he attempted to write from the feminine perspective. Fucker. Also, the depiction of the rape scene just made me so fucking angry at the time- I'm not sure why, and it's not like I get this angry reading other rape scenes in books, but this just made me want to punch him hard in the face.
3. If given the choice between being the idealized version of a knight, or the idealized version of a lady, which would you prefer, and why?I would have to go with knight. Maybe it's just because I don't know that much about being a lady as opposed to the huge amounts I know about knighthood, but the idea of fighting for the ideals as opposed to being theinspiration and caregiver seems much more interesting (although in real life, I'm much more the lady. I'm an empathetic caregiver- it's a family trait, I'm beginning to think.)
4. Which version of Robin hood do you like best, and why?Rocket Robin Hood, because of the short shorts and the boots.
...joking. Take away Kevin Costner, and I think my favourite Robin Hood story is Prince of Thieves (it's the first one that I vividly remember, followed by Men in Tights, and the Disney version). With Kevin Costner, I'd go with that dissertation I read about how the story is a retelling of the Mayfestival, and Marian was much more real and Friar Tuck was a lech. Rawr.
5. Would you rather eat mashed potato pizza or bran-bread with ketchup ontop, assuming you HAD to choose?Mashed potato pizza. Hands down.
