I changed my mind again, but for good and it is a decision that makes sense:

I'm doing my Old ENglish cultural presentation on danegeld. It makes sense because it's a big fucking deal to the Anglo-Saxons (specifically Aethelrede) and I mentioned it last week in my Battle of Maldon presentation, but didn't go into it too much. Plus, I pretty much already have all the information in front of me.

My cat just scared the hell out of me. She's sleeping at my feet, and started making noises in her sleep. Silly kitty.

ETA: This is the type of blathering you get at 1 AM, but it is true: I don't understand caffeine free Wild Raspberry herbal tea. It tastes pretty much like hot raspberry punch. Ok, not exactly the same, but still. Not my conception of tea.

[Poll #449001]
For those who don't know, a definition of danegeld:
The Danegeld was an English tax raised to pay off Viking raiders (usually led by the Danish king) to save the land from being ravaged by the raiders.

Danegeld was continued later under the name tallage. The term has come to mean protection money, or any coercive payment.

I realize that the friendsditto thing has been all over, but [livejournal.com profile] tanacawyr made some brilliant points about marginalized groups who use LJ and how this can/will affect them.

I realize it's almost foolish to hope that anything semi-private and friendslocked could remain that way, but I'm a fool. I respect the trust of people on my friendslist, and would not publicize their semi-private entries, and I assume (hope?) that y'all have the same amount of respect for me.

In other, ankle-related news, I woke up with that vague tingly feeling across the top of my foot, the kind you get in your joints before they crack when you flex them. Unthinkingly (obviously) I flexed and then contracted my foot. It was one of the loudest cracking of joints I'd ever heard. Ow.
