I keep trying to write the second half of my presentation on heroism, but I just end up adding more to the historical part. Bah. This is my ass getting itself kicked. ( | )d
And now my foot is cramping up painfully. Owwwwww. And I realize I'm being Angsty McComplain -Alot and I'm sorry. And cold. Mostly sorry. No, cold.
I'm overtired and getting weird. Save me!
I've been sitting here for two hours, and nothing. Maybe some stream of consciousness writing?
if the poem is not a history but rather a eulogy for bryhtnoth, extohlling the courage and bravery he inspired in others, this was highlighted all the better by showing it in comparison wiht cowardice: the coward Godric and the one who stayed with Bryhtnoth. also talk about ofermod, and how this led to the downfall(?) of the Anglo-Saxons, where they let the Vikings cross the river, giving up their advantage but they still believed they could win until Godric and the others turned and ran. how it's at this point that the poem does a weird 'w' alliteration thing that underscores the "oh shit"-ness of the situation. compare with other poems, if possible.
